Sedalia Young Professionals to host annual food drive

SEDALIA, Mo. (Nov. 10, 2015) – The Sedalia Young Professionals invites the community to help collect food for Open Door Ministries Food Pantry by participating in its second annual fall food drive.

SYP members will collect food at both entrances of Walmart, 3201 W. Broadway Blvd. in Sedalia, from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 and Tuesday, Nov. 17. They will have large boxes waiting to be filled by Sedalia residents with non-perishable food items needed by those served at Open Door’s food pantry in Sedalia. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

SYP’s 2014 fall food drive collected about 800 pounds of food to donate to Open Door.

The Sedalia Young Professionals (SYP) is a group to bring young career-minded people together to promote community service, social engagement and professional development in the Sedalia area. Membership is comprised of young professionals between the age of 21 and 40 who either pay yearly dues or are employed by a company that is a member of the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce. Members participate in monthly meetings and quarterly social, community involvement and professional development events.
