SYP elects 2017 officers

SEDALIA, Mo. (Jan. 9, 2017) – Sedalia Young Professionals elected its officers for 2017 during its January quarterly meeting.

Those elected are President Theron Broadfoot, Vice President Kenny Dearth, Treasurer Hannah Sartin and Secretary Kevin Wade.

Other members volunteered to serve as committee chairs, including Professional Development Chair Emily Watring, Public Relations Chair Nicole Cooke and Philanthropy Chair Brendan Hurley. Social, Membership and Community Engagement committee chair positions are still available.

SYP’s next meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 5. People between the ages of 21 and 40 who live or work in the Sedalia area and are interested in joining SYP are encouraged to attend any meeting. SYP to host tour of Sedalia Democrat

SEDALIA, Mo. (Jan. 9, 2017) – Sedalia Young Professionals will host a tour of the Sedalia Democrat, 700 S. Massachusetts Ave., for its quarterly professional development event at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25.

The Democrat, Sedalia’s only newspaper, has been serving the area for 149 years and it also offers commercial printing services. SYP members will hear from various department managers at the Democrat and receive a tour of the front office and press room. The Democrat will provide light refreshments.

SYP to host monthly meeting, Advantage Metals Recycling tour

SEDALIA, Mo. (Oct. 3, 2016) — Sedalia Young Professionals will host its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Advantage Metals Recycling, 300 N. Iron Ave.

On the agenda includes discussing upcoming social, professional development and community engagement events, plus helping plan the annual Fall Food Drive. Following the meeting, members will go on a tour of the Advantage Metals facility for this quarter’s professional development activity.

There will also be a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Fitters 5th Street Pub for anyone interested in discussing the future of SYP and ideas for member recruitment.

Sedalia Young Professionals to host monthly meeting, highway cleanup

SEDALIA, Mo. (July 29, 2016) – Sedalia Young Professionals will host its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Convention Hall at Liberty Park.

On the agenda includes discussing upcoming social, professional development and community engagement events.

Following the meeting, members will make their way to the stretch of U.S. Highway 65 SYP maintains as part of Adopt-a-Highway for highway cleanup. Members are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and wear gloves for picking up trash.

The Sedalia Young Professionals (SYP) is a group to bring young career-minded people together to promote community service, social engagement and professional development in the Sedalia area. Membership is comprised of young professionals between the age of 21 and 40 who either pay yearly dues or are employed by a company that is a member of the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce. Members participate in monthly meetings and quarterly social, community involvement and professional development events.
